East Addition

HBE and subcontractor work activities on the fourth floor OB unit are almost complete. The contractor punch list is scheduled for June 24-26. HBE and VVMC will complete a walk-through to identify any items that need to be addressed or corrected prior to VVMC taking ownership.

The Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) architectural inspection is scheduled for the week of June 22, with licensure and approval to follow. An additional state DHS licensure survey will be done in the new operating room and C-section suite of the unit.

The OB unit should be fully functional for patient occupancy in mid-August.

Internal

Work continues on Phase 4, which includes conversion of the former waiting and registration areas to a new EMS and ambulance entry, three new trauma bays, a patient decontamination shower and EMS support area. Work in this area is scheduled for completion in early August.

With the completion of Phase 4 in August, work on the fifth and final phase of the ED renovation will begin. Phase 5 converts the existing trauma area into three behavioral needs rooms, three private rooms and a staff support area which includes additional staff lockers, a kitchenette and equipment storage space. Project completion is scheduled for October. 
 
Second floor

Behind the temporary construction walls in the second floor corridor and throughout the Inpatient lobby, work continues for the new Cardiology Services area. Sheet rock work has increased to approximately 90 percent completion.

The second floor work also includes a Lab draw station area, Reception area, Registration area, Gift Shop, and new finishes for the lobby. The Inpatient Services entrance and lobby will be closed for several weeks in August to accommodate this work. New solid flooring will replace the existing carpet in the public corridor between the Inpatient and Outpatient lobbies.

Courtyard Plaza

The entire building shell has been gutted to prepare for the new Education Center floor plan. This will consist of a new entry, two large classrooms, two smaller classrooms, restrooms, and a support area. Occupancy is scheduled for September.
