East Addition There are currently 85 workers on site, with a work force of 140 anticipated at peak activity. The external framing and sheeting on the first and second floors have been completed.
External sheeting on the third floor has been skipped to proceed to the fourth floor in order to complete the roof installation. Verde Valley Medical Center has received many comments about the seemingly irregular sloped shape to the steel on the roof of the four-story east addition.
Rainwater is drained internally through special drain lines that receive water through five separate zones. The sloping is an intentional design. Other comments have been made about the bright yellow sheeting material. This will be covered to match the existing buildings.
Please look for the artist renderings hanging on the walls in the Inpatient lobby, across from the Verde Café on the first floor, the Emergency department lobby and in the Administration hallway to see what the completed building project will look like. Window installation on the east addition begins next week.
Construction trades are busy, with a steady stream of plumbing, framing, electrical, HVAC and sprinkler systems.
North Addition Steel framework for the two-level north addition is 95 percent completed. Pouring of the concrete flooring is scheduled to begin next week. Included with the north addition are two courtyards visible from the second floor corridor. These courtyards will be utilized as healing and relaxation gardens – one for VVMC colleagues and one for the public.
