East Addition Second Floor: VVMC continues to fit out the Yavapai Med/Surg Unit patient rooms and support areas. This area is scheduled to open for patient care during mid-October.
First Floor: The last two weeks have seen a flurry of activities by HBE and VVMC contractors and staff. HBE has been completing finish work, while VVMC’s focus has been on equipment and device installation.
On Aug. 25 a state Department of Health Services architectural inspector was on site to conduct the third and final construction tour and document review for the new east addition. The inspection was successful with no deficiencies noted. VVMC received notice on Sept. 2 from the Office of Special Licensing approving the new Medical Imaging department for patient care. This approval was the result of an extensive team effort, and all are to be congratulated!
VVMC’s 64-slice CT relocation and calibration on the new unit has been completed. The mobile CT is on site, ensuring continuing patient care during transition. The new MRI has been energized, and installation continues with training and applications in progress. The following Imaging equipment has been relocated to the new unit, including completion of manufacturer calibration and required medical physicist inspection, all of which were found to be compliant:
• Fluoroscopy • Bone density • Mammography • Stereotactic breast biopsy • Radiography
Patient care was started in the new Medical Imaging department on Wednesday, Sept. 3. This date marks the first VVMC service to transition into the new addition.
Fourth floor plans for the new OB unit are complete, and documents are being distributed to contractors. Estimated construction time is November 2008-June2009.
North Addition First Floor: The Telemetry Unit is scheduled for punch list inspection on Wednesday, Sept. 10, with HBE turnover to VVMC on Sept. 15, and patient care beginning in late September.
Internal demolition for the vacated first floor Medical Imaging department and vacated Outpatient Lab and Imaging services on the second floor is scheduled to begin Sept. 8.
