Get Smart about Your Heart: VVMC’s Annual Heart Fair

In recognition of February National Heart Month, the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona and Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) have teamed up for VVMC’s annual Heart Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, in VVMC Conference Rooms B and C, 269 S. Candy Lane.

In an effort to educate the community on cardiovascular disease, treatments and prevention, the event will include presentations by Heart & Vascular Center cardiologists and physicians with VVMC’s Joint Replacement Program.

• 9:30 a.m. - Bruce Peek, M.D., interventional cardiologist
Why basic cardiology screenings are important and what they should include

• 11 a.m. - Kenneth Bescak, M.D., diagnostic cardiologist
Natural ways to reduce your cholesterol

• 12:30 p.m.- Samuel Butman, M.D., interventional cardiologist
Does your heart beat to a different drummer?
Learn why an irregular heartbeat should not be ignored

• 2 p.m. - Jack Wylie, M.D., Geoffrey Cook, M.D., and Jon Cook, D.P.T.
Take care of your joints to take care of your heart

All presentations have limited seating so those wanting to attend must RSVP by calling 928 639-6551.
Additionally, participants can receive:
• Blood pressure checks
• Body Mass Index (BMI) evaluations
• Educational materials on risk assessments for heart disease
• A tour of VVMC’s Cardiac Rehab and EntireCare gyms
• Light refreshments will be available

The Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona (HVCNA) is a partnership between Verde Valley Medical Center and Flagstaff Medical Center. It combines physician office practices with extensive hospital-based services including diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures and open heart surgery.
