Cancer survivors’ annual celebration of life June 24
The Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare – Sedona Campus is sponsoring “Taming Cancer in the Wild West” annual survivors’ celebration to honor individuals throughout the Verde Valley who are living with and beyond cancer. The celebration is 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 24 at the Pine Shadows Club House, 2050 W. State Route 89A, Cottonwood. The Cancer Center staff looks forward to this day of celebration each year, which allows them to visit with many of the patients and families they have treated and cared for. This year, attendees will be treated to a free western barbeque lunch, fun photo opportunities and raffle prizes.
Celebration, rejoicing and remembering are all part of National Cancer Survivors Day. The annual worldwide event takes place in hundreds of communities throughout the U.S., Canada and other countries. Cancer survivors and their families unite in a symbolic event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.
Cancer “survivors” are those living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. In the U.S., there are approximately 12 million cancer survivors – individuals who prove every day that even with a cancer diagnosis, people can lead active, productive lives. Everyone whose life has been touched by cancer is encouraged to attend.
The Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare, located in Sedona and Flagstaff, are devoted to the comprehensive treatment and early diagnosis of cancer through advanced technology and individualized care. CCNAH – Sedona Campus is affiliated with the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
