The Verde Valley Medical Center-Sedona Campus will host its third annual community Health and Safety Fair Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fun-filled event, including live radio broadcast, is free and open to the public. Some activities include blood pressure checks, eye screenings, well woman health checks, healthcare materials, educational booths, raffles, and complimentary door prizes and refreshments. Some of this year’s exciting raffle prizes include Diamondback Mark Reynolds autographed baseball, Phoenix Coyotes autographed photo, and genuine leather autographed Cardinals football – just to name a few.
A large assortment of medical and health information will be available, and clinical personnel will be present to answer questions. Some of these include representatives from VVMC’s EntireCare Rehab & Sports Medicine and Emergency departments, Healthy Families Program, Northern Arizona Homecare/Hospice, and the Sedona Campus Cancer Center and Medical Imaging departments.
VVMC’s Angel 3 helicopter will be onsite, as will local emergency, fire, and police personnel. Child photo and fingerprinting on digital CD, and information about the M.I.L.K. (Managing Information on Lost Kids) program also will be available. Children will have an opportunity to meet Smokey the Bear from 9:30-10:30 a.m., learn about fire prevention, and receive a complimentary fire hat. The Department of Public Safety will have its crash car simulator on-site, and the Yavapai Community Health Department will provide information about tobacco prevention and other available programs.
Massage therapists offering chair massages, and representatives of numerous organizations representing local community services will be part of this informative half-day event.
The Health and Safety Fair is being offered as part of VVMC’s commitment to improving community health, and will take place at the VVMC-Sedona Campus, 3700 W. State Route 89A. For more information, call Linda Olsen at 204-4933.
