Currently, no children under age 12 are allowed in the clinical areas of Verde Valley Medical Center to visit patients. They are asked to remain in designated waiting areas, and should be accompanied by an adult.
Anyone over age 12 who is exhibiting cold or flu symptoms should not come to the hospital to visit. Symptoms and complications of the flu include fever; headache; extreme tiredness; dry cough; sore throat; runny or stuffy nose; muscle aches; and/or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (more common in children than adults).
VVMC would like to remind the community that a healthy immune system is the best way to prevent illness during the flu season. The most important precaution is hand washing. Other good health habits include avoiding close contact with people who are sick; staying home when sick; covering the mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing; avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth which can spread germs; eating correctly; and getting enough sleep.
