Alice Calhoun, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.P., pediatrician, has joined the Medical Staff of Verde Valley Medical Center. Dr. Calhoun received her Master’s of Public Health degree in Maternal-Child Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health, Birmingham, and her medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, Calif., followed by a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, Birmingham.
Prior to relocating to the Verde Valley, Dr. Calhoun served in a number of hospital and administrative positions, including medical director of a youth violence intervention program, and attending physician in pediatric emergency medicine. She most recently held the position of co-medical director for inpatient medicine at Children’s Hospital Central California, Madera, Calif.
Dr. Calhoun is author and coauthor of numerous published articles, abstracts and chapters. Her professional memberships include Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the American Medical Association, Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, and American Public Health Association.
