Medical research demonstrates annual mammography screening is the single most effective method for detecting breast cancers in the early states, when they are most curable. A mammogram can show changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them.

A recent study has proven digital mammograms find tumors that traditional mammograms may miss. It also is especially effective for women under 50, women who are premenopausal, and women with dense breasts.

With digital mammography, specially trained radiologists can enlarge and enhance the image, adjust the contrast, or zoom in on specific areas of the image. If necessary, primary care physicians can utilize the digital images to consult with other specialists to develop a more accurate diagnosis and the best possible treatment.
