Verde Valley Medical Center invites the community to its “Heart of the Matter” cardiac education topic Monday, June 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cardiac Catheterization – Does It Really Hurt? will be presented by Bruce Peek, M.D., interventional cardiologist.
Cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic procedure used to give cardiologists a clear picture of the coronary arteries and heart function. While the patient is semi-awake, a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into a vein or artery in the leg or arm, and guided to the coronary arteries. Real-time X-rays are taken of the heart arteries, showing narrowing and blockages, and images are taken of the heart’s main pumping chamber to check its functions.
Learn more about the procedure of cardiac catheterization in June’s free lecture. The program will be presented at VVMC, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood, in Conference Rooms B & C. Please call 639-6322 to reserve a seat. Walk-in attendance also is welcome.
