Verde Valley Medical Center is hosting a diabetes support group Monday, Nov. 23, from
5-7 p.m., in VVMC Conference Room A, for individuals, family members and friends whose lives have been affected by diabetes.

Joy Marimon, exercise physiologist, and Judith Linsky, RN, from VVMC’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program will be available to conduct an interesting demonstration. The demo will involve checking blood sugars, a brief exercise period and checking sugars again. There also should be a rousing game of Diabetes Bingo, and yes, there will be prizes!

Diabetic Educator and Support Group Facilitator Mary May said, “This is the beginning of Thanksgiving week and it certainly is a time to utilize the ‘support’ aspect of our group. We are just coming off the sugar explosion of all that Halloween candy in the markets. Now the baking and extra rich food and desserts of the family holidays begin. It is an excellent time to visit and share strategies for maintaining sound diabetic eating principles.”
