Verde Valley Medical Center’s Diabetes Education Program is reaching out to embrace the diabetic community and their loved ones by hosting local monthly diabetes support groups. These groups provide a supportive and sharing environment for all individuals, family members and friends affected by the disease.

The September meeting is 5 – 7 p.m., Sept. 27 in VVMC’s Conference Rooms B and C. This month’s meeting will feature Dietitian Megann Dastrup, R.D. Dastrup will discuss the glycemic index, the pros and cons associated with the glycemic index and how it may help control blood glucose. To R.S.V.P., call VVMC at 928 639-6346; walk-ins are welcome.

VVMC hosts the diabetes support group the fourth Monday of each month. Meetings focus on diabetes management and education.
