Verde Valley Medical Center’s (VVMC) Diabetes Education Department is encouraging those with diabetes to live a healthy, active lifestyle by sponsoring a walking group twice a week. This activity provides an opportunity for all individuals to exercise on a regular basis and meet others who also enjoy walking.
The walking group meets at the VVMC track, located near the southwest parking lot of VVMC, 269 S. Candy Lane. The walks are to encourage exercise and to help prepare those interested in participating in the Brian Mickelsen Memorial Run/Walk on Saturday, April 16.
VVMC’s walking group meets Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. Exercise physiologists Joy Marimon, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Bridget Taddonio, Fit Kids of Arizona, will attend the walks to help with stretching and answer questions. Additionally, Mary May, R.N., Certified Diabetes Educator will be at the walks to answer questions about blood sugar control, exercise and diet. For more information about VVMC’s Diabetes Education or about the walking group call 928 639-6346.
