Guardian Air and Verde Valley Medical Center are hosting an event to celebrate Guardian Air’s 10 years of service in the Verde Valley. This year is a milestone for Guardian Air’s Angel 3 helicopter and its staff, who have flown more than 2,700 patients since beginning operation in 2001. The public is invited to stop by to tour the helicopter and meet the flight crew. The anniversary event is 3 - 6 p.m., Thursday, May 19 at the Guardian Air Helipad near VVMC’s Emergency Department entrance, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood.
The staff of Angel 3 consists of specially trained and certified flight nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists and pilots who transport critically ill and injured patients from accident scenes or hospital to hospital. They respond to calls day or night and are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment to provide care for patients of all ages – from the smallest and frailest babies to the most critical adult patients. Each aircraft is equipped with the latest in avionic technology including night vision goggles, traffic collision avoidance system, terrain avoidance collision system and an in-cockpit satellite weather system.
