Verde Valley Medical Center’s (VVMC) Diabetes Education Program is reaching out to embrace the diabetic community and their loved ones by hosting monthly diabetes support groups. These local groups provide a supportive and sharing environment for all individuals, family members and friends affected by the disease.

This month’s meeting is 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, in VVMC’s Conference Rooms B and C. The meeting will feature Susan Wilkinson, M.D. Dr. Wilkinson, board certified in internal medicine, will discuss high blood pressure including the causes, treatment options and relationship to diabetes.

Free blood pressure checks available prior to the meeting at 4:30 p.m. This event is open to all members of the community. To R.S.V.P., call 928 639-6346; walk-ins welcome.

VVMC hosts the diabetes support groups the fourth Monday of each month. Meetings focus on diabetes management and education. Patients, families and those affected by diabetes are welcome to participate.
