Fit Kids of Arizona opens clinic in Camp Verde

Oct. 12, 2011

In response to the increased number of children and their families in the Camp Verde area participating in the Fit Kids of Arizona program, Fit Kids has opened a satellite clinic in Camp Verde. The new clinic is open one day a month to accommodate the monthly appointments of Fit Kids participants in the area. The new clinic is located at Verde Valley Medical Center’s Camp Verde Health Center, 460 Finnie Flat Rd. To make an appointment at the new clinic or for more information about Fit Kids, call 928 639-6343.

“We want to minimize the commuting distance and time for those families in the Camp Verde area by offering Fit Kids right in their own community,” said Matt Leversee, Fit Kids program manager. “We are seeing an increased number of families from this area and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to continue to benefit from our program.”

Fit Kids of Arizona is committed to the assessment and treatment of children who are overweight or obese. The program is dedicated to reducing the health consequences of childhood obesity by promoting healthy lifestyles through medical and behavioral counseling, nutrition education, physical activity and community partnerships.

Fit Kids of Arizona began in January 2009. Since that time, more than 340 children have been referred to the program at Verde Valley Medical Center and more than 700 children have been referred to the program at Flagstaff Medical Center.
