Emergency department expansion at VVMC

May 22, 2009

Verde Valley Medical Center is pleased to announce the completion of another phase of its $39 million expansion project. On Tuesday, May 19, the newly expanded Emergency department (ED) began use of a new outside canopy; patient walk-in entry; and the new, larger reception, triage, and waiting areas. There also is a new Medical Imaging suite located within the ED, allowing for faster X-ray and other radiological tests. This marks a significant milestone for VVMC’s ability to serve current and future patients. With this construction project, the Emergency department is expanding from 12 patient care areas to 21 – nearly doubling in size.

The next phase of the ED expansion includes the former waiting room and reception areas being converted into a new EMS ambulance entry and three new trauma bays. The former trauma area will be converted into three special needs rooms and a staff support area which includes a kitchen, locker and equipment storage space. Construction completion and turnover for these final phases of the project are scheduled for late September.
