Dec. 13, 2012

Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) has been awarded an ‘A’ grade for patient safety and quality of care by the Leapfrog Group based on 26 different measures of safety. VVMC was recognized by the Leapfrog Group for its demonstrated commitment to the health of its patients through safety, quality of care and positive patient outcomes.

“This rating demonstrates we are following national guidelines that combine medical care and preventive measures with the ultimate goal of saving lives and improving the overall quality of health of our patients and the community,” said James Bleicher, M.D., VVMC President/CEO. “Receiving an A grade from this respected organization is a testament to the commitment of all our staff and physicians in making VVMC one of the safest hospitals in the U.S.”

The Leapfrog Group is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization that reviews and analyzes hospital information in order to provide hospitals a letter grade for safety each year. Nationally, Leapfrog graded 2,618 U.S. hospitals; VVMC was one of only 790 hospitals to earn an ‘A’ grade.

In addition to receiving national recognition by the Leapfrog Group, VVMC has received other notable rankings and awards including:
• Becker’s Hospital Review – One of “100 Great Community Hospitals” in the U.S.
• American Heart Association – Get with the Guidelines gold and silver awards for multiple years in the areas of treating stroke, heart attack and congestive heart failure patients
• Professional Research Consultants – Platinum, gold, silver, 5-star and 4-star awards for 11 consecutive years for customer service and quality of care.
