Main Street Cares – Celebrate October Breast Cancer Awareness Month Oct. 15

Verde Valley Medical Center, the Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare and Old Town Cottonwood businesses are sponsoring Main Street Cares. The event is 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15 on Main Street, Cottonwood.
This fun, first-of-its-kind event brings awareness, answers and education about breast cancer to the streets of Cottonwood. Enjoy refreshments, store specials and live music by the Janice Paul Trio. Local businesses participating in the event include Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Cindi Bee, Crema Coffee and Creamery, Foxy Fashions, Ledbetter Law Firm, Nic’s Italian Steak & Crab House, Orion Bread Company, Pillsbury Wine Company North, Steve Coury Ford, Tavern Grille, Tico and Verde Valley Oil Traders. The first 50 people to register at the welcome table located at the Ledbetter Law Firm will receive a door prize.
In addition to fun-filled activities, there will be short 15-minute presentations about the advancements of digital mammography. Digital mammography is a type of low-dose X-ray imaging that aids in the early diagnosis of breast cancer and other breast diseases. Digital mammography uses electrical signals to produce images of the breast that can be viewed immediately on a computer screen. These images allow physicians to determine if cancer cells are present in the breast.
Attendees also will have an opportunity to view and vote for “Arty Bras.” Created by local residents, the Arty Bras are decorative bras that celebrate the beauty of all women.
