Complementary Patient Services

Volunteer Services Department
Volunteers are a valuable asset to Verde Valley Medical Center. They are considered very special people who give the ultimate gifts of their time and love. The assistance they provide enhances the quality of care we are able to offer patients, families, and visitors to our medical center. The diversity of our volunteers makes us stronger and better able to serve the healthcare needs of the community. The Volunteer Services department offers a number of complimentary services to VVMC patients.

Inpatient and Outpatient Services

Valet Parking
Valet parking volunteers are located at the Outpatient Services entrance of VVMC. Patients, family members, and visitors may drive to the entrance where a valet will park and lock the vehicle in a separate assigned parking area. When individuals are ready to leave, the valet will return the vehicle to the Outpatient Services entrance. Valet parking is available Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Internal Transport
Golf cart transportation is provided on both levels of VVMC. Volunteers are available to transport individuals throughout the hospital as needed. This service is available Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Inpatient Services

Local Newspaper
Through a generous donation from All-Med Equipment and Services in Cottonwood, issues of the local Verde Independent newspaper are available to inpatients on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Chaplain Services
VVMC has teamed with a caring group of local pastors who provide around-the-clock services for patients and their families. Chaplains are available to persons of any or no religious background, and offer a supportive listening ear and/or spiritual support. Patients can ask a nurse if they wish to see a chaplain.

Paws for Patients
Recognizing the healing benefits of animals, VVMC offers inpatients special visits with therapy dogs. All therapy dogs are certified by the Delta Society and have passed physical and behavioral testing for certification. The dogs provide a general feeling of well-being, unconditional affection, and interaction with individuals who may have difficulty communicating.

Concierge Services
VVMC understands that having a loved one in the hospital can be overwhelming. Volunteers provide a concierge service to assist families with finding local discounted services to help them before, during and after their stay.

Home Alone Zoo
The Home Alone Zoo pet sitting program was put into place to assist hospitalized patients with pet care. This service is offered, for up to two weeks, to inpatients with no other alternatives for the care of their pet. All pets must be well behaved, nonaggressive, and comfortable with strangers. There are only a few volunteers who provide this service; therefore, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If no volunteer is available, special arrangements will be made for the pet to be cared for by the Humane Society of Yavapai County or by local kennels which house and care for pets of hospitalized patients, for a limited time. A simple telephone call starts the process, which includes signing a special request form and providing basic information about the pet and services needed during patient hospitalization.

Mail Services
Volunteers are available to pick up and/or deliver mail for inpatients. Postage stamps may be purchased in the Gift Shop.
