Visiting Guidelines

General Visiting Hours: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Daily

VVMC’s Perinatal and Family Services department encourages the involvement of a patient’s support system in the birth event. Our priorities are the safety, security, and privacy of the patient and her newborn. Our goal is to provide a meaningful birth experience in a comfortable environment for the patient and her family.

Labor and Delivery support
The patient’s significant other is welcome to remain with the patient and newborn at all times.

The patient’s labor support system may consist of up to four people (including the patient’s significant other) who will remain with her throughout labor and delivery. The patient should designate one person to provide updates to family and friends.

After the Baby is Born
After delivery of the baby, visitation is limited to four visitors at a time, including the patient’s significant other. We ask you to respect our visiting hours, which allow for appropriate rest, privacy, and education for our patients and their families.

Grandparents and siblings of the newborn are allowed special visiting time after the baby has been born.

Brothers and sisters of the newborn are welcome to visit when they are supervised and accompanied by an adult other than the patient. Children under age 12 are not allowed to visit when hospital visiting restrictions are in place.

Nursery
When a baby needs extra care in the nursery, only the parents and grandparents may visit.

Privacy and Confidentiality
We ask that you respect patients’ privacy and confidentiality. Visitors should remain in the patient’s room or in the Outpatient Waiting Area. Visitors may be asked to leave the room if a procedure or care needs to be performed, or in the event of an emergency.

These visiting hours pertain to all OB and GYN patients staying on the unit.
