Audiology

We have two audiologists at our Flagstaff clinic who provide hearing and
balance services for ages newborn through 21. The Audiology department
also conducts newborn hearing screenings before all infants leave the
hospital. Your child's hearing can be accurately tested at any age by an
audiologist. Services provided include hearing screenings, hearing aids
and repair, and dizziness testing. Children may be eligible to be seen in
this clinic through CRS or privately by referral from their primary care
practitioner.
Cardiology

CRS Cardiology Clinic serves children born with heart defects and
provides the medical follow-up for these children after surgical repair.
Craniofacial Team Management

The Northern Arizona Craniofacial Team is registered with the American
Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. The team meets once a month to
discuss several of the 200 cleft lip/palate children we manage. Parents and children are invited and are able to meet with all the
physicians and dentists to make a plan for their child. The team consists
of our medical director/pediatrician; the plastic surgeons; an ear,
nose and throat specialist; an oral surgeon; an orthodontist; a dentist;
audiologists; a psychologist; a speech pathologist/coordinator; a
nurse/case manager; a patient service coordinator; and a dietitian.
Endocrinology

This clinic treats disorders of the glands, which affect growth and
development. Children may be eligible to be seen in this clinic through
CRS or privately by referral from their primary care practitioner.
Gastroenterology

This clinic treats disorders of the digestive system. Children may be
eligible to be seen in this clinic through CRS or privately by referral
from their primary care practitioner.
Genetics

Genetics is a CHC/CRS clinic, which is staffed by geneticists from Tucson, all of whom are associated with the University of
Arizona. A child gets referred to this clinic when there is an unusual
or unknown disorder that the referring physician thinks may be genetic
in origin. Genetics may be helpful in determining the likelihood of
having future children with specific disorders. Children may be eligible
to be seen in this clinic through CRS or privately by referral from
their primary care practitioner.
Metabolic

Metabolics clinic serves children with a variety of inborn errors of
metabolism, such as PKU, Homocystinuria, MSUD, Galactosemia and others.
The metabolics team--consisting of a physician, dietitian and
nurse--travel to Flagstaff twice a year for clinics. Call the clinic

Nephrology

The nephrology clinic is held every other month by a pediatric nephrologist. This clinic is held for children who
are having problems such as nephritis, nephrosis, cystic kidney disease,
renal transplant follow-up and other kidney conditions. Children may be
eligible to be seen in this clinic through CRS or privately by referral
from their primary care practitioner.

The neurology clinic treats conditions of the brain and nervous system.
Children may be
eligible to be seen in this clinic through CRS.
Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy services are provided by an occupational therapist
with experience in pediatrics. This includes development of fine motor
skills, hand-splinting and therapy for children.
Ophthalmology

The ophthalmology clinic serves children with various eye conditions.
CRS only.
Orthopaedic

The orthopaedic clinic assists children who have conditions of the bones
and muscles. CRS and private referral.
Orthotics/Prosthetics
(top of page)
The orthotics and prosthetics clinic develops specialized limb bracing
as well as limb replacements for children who have certain medical
conditions. CRS only.
Otolaryngology

Otolaryngology clinic (also know as ear, nose and throat or ENT clinic) is
held every month at CHC. This clinic is held for
children who have ear, nose and throat problems such as conductive
hearing loss, neurosensory hearing loss, cleft lip and palate, microtia
and other congenital conditions. Children must have a CRS-eligible
condition to attend this clinic.
Pediatric

The CRS pediatric clinic offers an opportunity for you to meet with a
pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner to review your child's CRS
services from a comprehensive perspective. A health history is collected
and a physical exam is conducted with particular attention given to your
child's special needs. A pediatric clinic visit is required upon intake
into the CRS program and periodically to coordinate services and monitor
your child's overall health. Our goal is to determine all the services
that CRS can provide for your child.
Physical Therapy

Therapists assess and direct treatment of a wide variety of disorders,
both orthopaedic and neurological. They can provide coordination and
communication with community therapists and agencies. Therapists provide
assessment of medical equipment or orthotic needs, related patient
training and follow-up.
Plastic Surgery

Plastics clinics evaluate the needs of the child and determines the need
for surgery to correct or improve function of certain disorders.
Psychology
(top of page)
The psychology clinic provides therapeutic services to CRS patients on a
referral basis. Referrals are made by CRS physicians, social workers or
case managers. Services include behavioral interventions, psychological
evaluations and therapy for families and patients.
Rheumatology

Rheumotology is a CRS clinic for children diagnosed with juvenile
rheumatoid arthritis or related CRS-eligible conditions. To be eligible
for this clinic, the CRS medical director must refer the child.
Speech Therapy
(top of page)
Speech therapy is available for CRS patients whose speech/language and
voice development are affected by their CRS condition. These include
children with cleft lip/palate, hearing loss, cerebral palsy,
neurological conditions, feeding problems and tracheostomies. Children
are evaluated at regular intervals and therapy is available on a limited
basis.
Wheelchair/Seating

These clinics are conducted with a specially-trained physical therapist
and wheelchair manufacturer to design custom-fitted wheelchairs for
children and adults in need of a specialized wheelchair.
