Sports-specific training programs
<TOP>
Athletics is not only about participation and having fun, but it is also
a developing science. Few athletes are fortunate enough to show up on
the day of competition without any preparation and be successful.
Instead the road to success is often paved with hard work, so why not
get the most out of all of your hard work? Our staff includes certified
strength and conditioning specialists, recognized leaders in athletic
performance enhancement, exercise physiologists and masters of exercise
prescription. Our professionals can help you to get the most out of your
workouts. Pre-season, in-season, and off-season training programs will
be tailored to the specific demands of your team, your individual
position on the field, and your own rigorous demands. Get the most out
of your workout - Don’t just work hard, work smart.

Nutrition Programs <TOP>
Eating a protein bar or drinking a glamorous sports drink before a
competition won’t by itself turn you into a champion. Learn from the
professionals how to feed your body to fuel your workouts for maximum
benefits. Individually-designed nutrition programs and counseling are
available to support the athlete in all phases of training and
competition. Our sports nutritionists and registered dieticians can also
address vitamin and caloric intake, and are up to date on whether to
believe the hype surrounding different supplements. All of our
nutritionists are competitive athletes themselves. They know the demands
of competition, and how small changes in diet can yield big results.
To get a personalized one-on-one nutrition consult and a program
designed specifically for you, contact us at 928.773.2084, or
fill out our online form and we
will get back to you.
If your team would like to have a group counseling session on specific
nutrition concepts, or on weight management, we can arrange that too.
Just give us a call to discuss what your needs are.
Performance
Evaluations
<TOP>
If you are not injured, but feel that you
need to get the most out of your training (who doesn’t?), let our team
of professionals perform a personalized assessment of your needs. One of
our strength and conditioning specialists (all are licensed physical
therapists or athletic trainers), will assess your strengths and
weaknesses. We will assist you in designing a training program to
maximize your potential in the competitive or recreational arena.
Including:
|
Running evaluations |
Swimming evaluations |
|
Football evaluations |
Cycling evaluations |
|
Golf Swing Mechanics |
Baseball skills evaluations |
|
Soccer strength, balance, and
flexibility |
Volleyball Evaluations |
|
Basketball evaluations |
|
Each Performance Evaluation is a
usually a two part package. You will be evaluated on the first day: One
of our professionals will identify your strengths and weaknesses, and
discuss your goals. On your second day, program recommendations will be
made. Your strength and conditioning program will be gone through in
detail. The rationale for each chosen flexibility, visual, conditioning,
or strength exercise will be discussed, taught, and implemented that
day.
The cost for each day will be $75, payable at the time of your visit.
This is usually not an insurance billable cost.

Runners Clinics and Sports Injury Clinics
<TOP>
The Sports Medicine Center of Northern
Arizona has been performing a free Runners Clinic for the Flagstaff
community since 2004. This two hour clinic allows anyone in the
community to ask the pro’s some training or injury questions for FREE!
In July of 2006 we expanded this clinic to include assessment of
injuries and training ideas for all sports. We are now hosting a Sports
Injury Clinic, no longer just for runners. Our team of sports
nutritionists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and
conditioning specialists will try to answer any questions that you may
have.
The clinic runs from 6-8 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. If
you require more in-depth help with an injury, or have very specific
needs, you may wish to have an individualized
Performance Evaluation, or might
be eligible for our insurance-billed
Injury Rehabilitation services.
