Special Care Nursery

The Level II Special Care Nursery (SCN) with Enhanced Qualification provides care for newborns delivered from 28 weeks gestation and above. The SCN staff provides neonatal care for critically ill infants. The nursery is located on the first floor of the Women and Infants’ Center and includes the following services and amenities:

• Eighteen continuing care nursery beds

• Four-bed neighborhoods, providing privacy with reduced noise levels

• Continuing focus on developmentally sensitive care

• Three family rooms where qualified parents can spend the night

• Sibling playroom adjacent to the family waiting room

• Extended transition room for babies requiring more time to adjust to the external environment

• Neonatal nurse practitioner on site,
24-hours a day

• State-of-the-art monitoring system

• Basic radiology services available within the department area

• Special entrance to the new building
